Pastor Paul Roberts, Senior Pastor
Pastor Paul Roberts has been the senior pastor of Eastminster Church for eleven years. He has been in ordained ministry for 30 years pastoring three churches in Western Pennsylvania. The Lord has gifted Paul to lead these 3 churches in the area of congregational redevelopment using two gifts for which Paul is best known; dynamic preaching and development of vision for the local congregation. Paul has dedicated his life to racial reconciliation and believes racism is the greatest sin that inhabits this country and one that the church must address. Lisa is his wife of 32 years and they have three adult children who are all active in their own churches. His oldest son Jeremiah is a minister of music in an Ohio church. His recent sermons can be heard on our Listen page.
Rev. Nikki Porter, Head of Staff and Minister of Music
Nikki has been the Minister of Music for Eastminster since 2004, leading worship, directing the praise teams and choirs, as well as teaching private voice lessons in the church's afterschool program, The Judah Project, which she established in 2005. She is also the head of church staff at Eastminster. As a nationally renowned Gospel artist, Nikki brings the knowledge and maturity she has developed from teaching workshops and preaching throughout the US and Europe, to all of her duties at Eastminster, praising God with her song and her life within the church family and community. Rev. Joshua Barna, Minister of Children and Youth Ministries
Josh Barna brings to Eastminster a wide range of experience with children and youth ministry and a passion, which was ignited by serving in racially and socioeconomically diverse contexts, for developing worshipping families. Josh is a graduate of Wheaton College, who anticipates completing his Master of Divinity degree in the near future. Prior to serving at Eastminster, Josh served at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in inner-city Houston, Texas, as Director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, where his focus was on children, youth, and families. Most recently he served as Director of Children’s Ministries at New Hope Reformed Church in Columbus, Ohio. He is a native Pittsburgher who, after 10 years of living all around the country, is excited about returning home with his wife for the opportunity to partner with God and His people to do His work at Eastminster.
Nemesio Valle III, Organist and Choir Director
Dr. Nemesio Valle, III, of Harrison, New York, has been a professional church musician since he was seven years old, first as a paid chorister at Christ’s Church in Rye, NY. When his legs were long enough to reach the pedals, he started organ lessons, having studied piano for the 8 years prior. He graduated from Haverford College in 1997 with a B.A. with emphasis in music composition and enrolled in the graduate program in Historical Musicology at the University of Pittsburgh, receiving his M.A. in 2002. Not satisfied with a purely academic approach to music, Nemesio also simultaneously enrolled at Duquesne University of the Holy Ghost in Sacred Music, from which he received an M.M. also in 2002, studying organ with Drs David Craighead and Ann Labounsky. He completed his Ph.D. in Musicology in 2011 specializing in Gregorian chant. He comes to Eastminster from a ten-year tenure as Director of Music Ministries at Saint Ursula Parish in Allison Park, and is deeply grateful for the wonderful opportunity to serve God and the congregation here in their worship.
Nemesio is married to a wonderful woman and native Pittsburgher, Megaen Reilly (who taught him everything he knows about football), and has an energetic son, Christopher, both of whom are the highlight of his life. In his spare time, he is the administrator of a supermarket in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City, a responsibility he inherited when his father passed away unexpectedly back in 2009. (And he asks your forgiveness in advance if, in his excitement, his New York accent manifests itself.) In addition to playing, conducting and writing about church music, he has worked in the field of pipe organ maintenance, and considers it an inestimable privilege to play on the 1955 Æolian-Skinner at Eastminster.
Allison Maybury, Director of Eastminster Child Care Center
Allison is the Director of the Child Care Center and has been since 2001. She enjoys providing the children that attend the center the highest quality education and therefore a great beginning to their love for school.
Jamelle Simpson, Manager of Janitorial and Maintenance Services
Jamelle Simpson, a Pittsburgh native born and raised, describes himself as a child of God, who was blessed with a beautiful daughter. Most recently, Jamelle worked as a Facilities Supervisor for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, where his exceptional communication and organizational skills were vital to his successful management of three buildings and 12 staff. Jamelle’s work with the YMCA allowed him to play a part in serving the community and using the skills that he honed doing home renovations with his father. He is looking forward to meeting the members and friends of Eastminster and serving and fostering meaningful relationships with God’s people here. When Jamelle isn’t serving in his new role here at Eastminster or spending time with his 9-year old daughter, he can be found serving the youth in our communities. His love and passion for working with youth led him to become a mentor, a weekly act of service for “the least of these” of which Christ speaks in Matthew 25:40. Please join us in welcoming Jamelle to our staff!
